| SURVIVING THE LOW SEASON - OPPORTUNITIES IN DISGUISE! |
|
You are the envy of all your friends, you work
hard during the peak season, make LOADS of money, and then take 6 months off in the low period. That's right isn't it?
We all wish it could be that easy! The fact is, that owning a wedding business requires a huge amount of self discipline, money and time management, and energy. Here are some ways to use the wedding low season as a great opportunity for growth. REFLECT ON THE PREVIOUS YEAR:Were you happy with last year's performance? How can you improve? Review the positives and negatives of your customer service, your productivity, and your cash flow. Set Key Performance Indicators for the following year and goal set for improvement.WORKFLOW & PROCEDURES PLANNINGUse the slow period to write complete work flows from the moment the call is taken, the consultation, right through to final delivery of the service and follow up. Once you see it on paper, you may be able to streamline your process giving you more time to work on other aspects of your business. This is also valuable should you want to take on new staff - they have a complete checklist of the service phase from start to finish.MARKETING / PRTake the time to review your marketing strategy, print, online, etc. What worked, what didn't? What was the best Return on Investment? Brides are looking and planning all year round. And with your current clientele, you should have more time to devote to them with follow up phone calls and amazing customer service in the low season. Keep in regular contact, and go the extra mile. Word of mouth referrals are still an excellent way of attracting new business!WORK TOWARDS A HEALTHY CASH FLOW:Take deposits from your brides to lock in their date. It is also proof that they have made a commitment to you as a service provider. Offer them a monthly payment plan to help them with their budget. This also keeps cash flowing through the door for you.WORK ON YOURSELFWhen Kenton hears me talk about this he runs a mile! But I'm deadly serious - look inside, can you see how your personality and attitudes may reflect your business? What blockages do you have? Do you have any fears you may need to work on? I see this all the time in myself. Being an extremely private, shy person, I found it very hard to accept the reality that for Bridal Net to take this new direction, I would have to expose a part of myself - through this newsletter, and through all the video promotions we are about to embark on. It's a challenge, but a fact that all of us in business have to face. So- just GET OVER IT, AND GO FOR IT! |
| GOOGLE - WHAT THE BRIDES ARE LOOKING FOR ONLINE |
|
Since our relaunch, we?e had 1,446 of our pages viewed a total of 14,521 times. And 88.21% new visits to the site!
Not a bad start at all! Top searches for service providers were in the Melbourne region with the Gold Coast region coming in a close second. Our top landing pages were our articles, with Brides wanting information on decorations, photographers, bomboniere, ceremony venues, dresses, honeymoons and ideas for reception venues. So what does that mean for you as and advertiser? It means you need to gain as much knowledge you can about your specific target market! Get yourself a good analytics program such as Google Analytics so you know where your internet referrals are coming from. If you are paying other wedding directories to advertise, you should be knowing if they are working for you, or if they are simply a waste of your money and time. |
| CHEERS FOR NOW.... |

That's it from me for another week. In our next newsletter, we will be looking into internet video & it's importance in the search engine placement - a subject very close to my heart! Remember, our writing competition is still open and finishes on the 22nd May, so get writing to win some fab prizes! See ya! Leanne |
