Wedding Flower Tips
How to choose your wedding flowers.
When choosing your flowers, be mindful of the style of your wedding so that the style of your bouquets fits in. If your wedding is formal, your dress is sophisticated and your bridal party are all in suits, your flowers should also tie in with this theme. For example, a trailing and structured bouquet may suit. If your wedding is going to have a more casual, relaxed feel and your dress resembles a carefree, simple style, then your bouquet and all the flowers should also be loosely put together and of a more relaxed nature. Generally, if you are not very tall, a long, cascading bouquet may dwarf you and if you are taller, be sure not to have a bouquet that is too small.
What to tell the florist.
When discussing your flowers with your florist, try to express just what you like and use as many words as possible. Choose your flower and then describe how you would like them to be put together. It's best to have a few pictures that will help the florist see what you are seeing in your mind. Be reminded though, that no two bouquets will ever the identical, so do not expect to get an exact match from a magazine cut out. Floristry is a design skill and each florist will create their bouquets and arrangements differently.
You will need to have all your wedding details handy.
For example
A good tip is to give your florist a swatch of fabric from one of the dresses to help them choose colours and be inspired.
Your wedding flowers - on the day.
Always be aware that flowers are a natural, living thing. Handle them with care and on hot days, spray them with a little water to keep them fresh.
Prior to the wedding day, find a fridge you can empty - even one that's not turned on - a bag of ice will keep it cool. When your florist delivers your flowers on your wedding day, put them in the fridge until you are ready to go. Otherwise, you will need to organise some other cool dark place to store them.
Hope you have an absolutely fabulous day!
